History
Allan Pritchard formed his own architectural design company in January 2005 after several years working at a large international architectural firm. After initially working from home the business soon outgrew his spare bedroom, and Allan purchased a commercial building at 55 Retreat Road, Avonside, Christchurch. With work continuing to pour in, it was necessary to get some help, and in March 2006 Jared came on board, bringing his creative drawing skills with him. With the operation getting bigger Margie joined the team as the Office Manager and is now working part-time as Finance Manager. Lynn was the next person to join the team in 2007 and has proven herself to be a very valuable part of the team. Helen took over as Office Manager in 2010 and we have increased our design and draughting staff and our total number has grown to 13. AP Design can handle any projects from small to large complex projects.
The offices at Retreat Road were extended and renovated to accomodate the increasing staff levels. Unfortunately the office was flooded with silt after the September earthquake but was renovated in record time and we were back in the office again by December. Unfortunately the February earthquake created more havoc and flooding and to top it off the office is now in the red zone. Since then we have been nomads working from the Fraemohs office as well as a house in Avonside - until suitable long term offices can be located.
In 2008 AP Design entered the Educational sector. Since starting the company in 2005 this was always the goal. Allan's passion is working with schools especially primary schools where there are opertunities to be creative and fun with colours and textures.
In 2009 AP Design entered a relationship with Fraemohs Homes and now handle all of their drawing work including production drawings. AP Design are constantly working with Fraemohs to implement improvements in the design and manufacturing process.
After the September 4th Earthquake AP Design gained a contract with Arrow International to assist with their Earthquake work with AMI. AP Design has since expanded the team to assist with the increased workload.
